The Golden Girls Group is a foundation formed by a few friends that wanted to hold fundraising events to raise money for BC Children's Hospital.

President, Gunwant Bains, who is fondly known as "Gunni", is the founder of the Golden Girls Group. While volunteering with BC Children's Hospital from 1991-1995, she came across a lot for families who had sick children at the hospital. The moment Gunni held a premature baby in her arms, who barely weighed a pound, she knew she wanted to do more. Gunni often talks about how children are the future of the world and we must do everything we can to keep them healthy and strong.

Gunni convinced a few of her friends to join her in the fundraising efforts and that is when the Golden Girls Group was born. Golden Girls formally registered with societies of BC in 2000.

The Golden Girls held their first fundraising event in 1997. Since then, The Golden Girls Group has held an annual gala dinner every September and have so far raised over 5 million dollars for BC Children's Hospital.
